Best IELTS Coaching

by admin

How do you know if the IELTS coaching that you go to is good enough?

The first things you need to understand how good the trainer is. The easiest way is to attend a free IELTS session at any of the institutes providing the same. Also, it would be helpful to know if the session is a specific session to lure students or if it is a regular session. Remember that many institutes quite often have demo classes for IELTS that are designed to be impressive, while their usual classes have nothing great to offer.

The best IELTS coaching usually comes from people who really know what the course is all about. A lot of institutes blatantly offer Guaranteed 7 band in IELTS or even more ludicrously guaranteed 8 band in IELTS. It is never a good idea to believe in any institute that is giving an score guarantee in IELTS. The reason is simple. The score is dependent on our performance on the test day. An institute can prepare you well for a test day but to guarantee your performance does not make sense.

Also, visiting the institute in person to check out the facilities they offer is also something that you should be doing. Simply joining an institute because it is close to your place might be counter productive. Going to a place where you would not need to repeat the your IELTS test is the best bet!

Good luck with your IELTS test!

GRE – Getting a Score of 320+

by admin

What do you need to get a score of 320+ in GRE ?

A lot of people will bluntly tell you that you need to memorise words. But is that the right way? Nope.

It definitely is not the right way. If you want to perform well in the GRE, what you need to do is to understand words and not memorise words.

So, how to you get trained in the best way for GRE? The answer is to learn words and not memorise words.

What is the difference? Memorising words is simply knowing the meaning of words. Learning words is a more inclusive process. You need to know the following:

  • part of speech of the word
  • different words forms
  • making a sentence with the word
  • understand the context in which a word works

How do you use the word Insipid?

While the word means tasteless and flavourless, it can be used in a broad range of contexts.

I ate insipid soup, on an insipid day, with my friends all of whom had insipid personalities.

In the first context, insipid means lacking in taste or flavour. In the second context it means dull or boring, in the last one, it means uninteresting.

IELTS Coaching – Reading and Writing

by admin

In the last post, the discussion was about how the Listening and Speaking sections of the IELTS test are the easiest of the four sections. However, the reading and the writing sections are not so straight forward. They will not just need blind practice.

It requires an understanding of how IELTS writing is corrected.  To do that, you will need to have a detailed understanding of the IELTS Band Descriptors. IELTS band descriptors give you an excellent idea of how your writing needs to be for each band level.

For instance, for achieving a 7 band in IELTS writing the band descriptors clearly say that information in your IELTS writing task should do the following:

  • arrange information and ideas in a logical and a consistent manner
  • exhibit a clear progression all through
  • use a variety of cohesive devices (words that show relationships between themes and ideas)
  • use those appropriately
  • present a clear topic within each paragraph

These are only a part of the requirements, but a very important part. The four points above are essential for you to achieve a 7 in the coherence and cohesion aspect of writing.

For the remaining aspects of getting a 7 in IELTS, keep looking forward for other posts.

IELTS Coaching in Hyderabad for Nurses

by admin

If you are a nurse, you probably already know that NHS UK is desperately looking for skilled nurses. If you are a nurse and wish to work in the UK, there is a catch. IELTS. Not just taking the test, but succeeding brilliantly is needed. To be selected by the NHS, you will need a Band 7 in all Modules in IELTS and that is not always an easy task.

How do achieve an all 7 in IELTS? You should either be comfortable with the language, or you will need to get comfortable with the language. Like many institutes promise, there are no shortcut to getting a seven. There are no tricks. It is all about understanding and knowing the language and understand what you need to do to get the best score in IELTS. Naturally, the next question would be, what needs to be done?

If you are not particularly looking to a great IELTS coaching Institute, them the alternative is to either look at some free IELTS material, or at least take a free IELTS model exam. This will help you understand the level at which you are.

What modules should you concentrate on?

The easiest ones to focus on are Listening and Speaking. With a bit of focussed practice, and some attention to detail, those who are at 5.5 can also easily reach 7 in this module. The next would be speaking. However, speaking is something that one cannot do alone. Improvements in speaking are best achieved by practice. And this practice should always be with a partner. Preferably, a partner who is better at English than you are.

This where a good IELTS training or a good IELTS coaching programme might actually come in Handy.

The next question would be; What to do with the reading and the writing section of the IELTS test? This will be a mater for discussion in the upcoming post.

7 Band in IELTS General Training

by admin

If you are here, you are probably looking to achieve that elusive all 7s in IELTS. It is not difficult. If you have a band of 7 already in at least a couple of sections, your preparation gets slightly easier. This is because you already have the confidence that you can get there.

How do we at First Academy, help you get all 7s in IELTS? Why are we considered the best coaching institute for IELTS?

The coaching in First Academy is intuitive. We do not give you templates or anything because, IELTS Examiners are trained to spot sections of your writing that are not yours. So if you are blindly following a template, you must understand that it is not a good idea.

IELTS rewards you for your own writing. And if you look at the IELTS Band descriptors (download by clicking), you will realise that Band Zero is given to candidates who write a completely memorised response. Naturally, you must understand that your answer will be penalised if you write a partially memorised response too.

And all templates, and all standard introductions are types of memorised responses.

If you want to know more, you are always welcome to attend a free session, or take a free IELTS test and have a word with our Cambridge Certifed trainers to know how IELTS is evaluated and what you need to do to achieve a guaranteed 7 in IELTS.

Good Luck!

Best Institute for IELTS, GRE, TOEFL and PTE in Hyderabad

by admin

There are many institutes offering coaching for IELTS, PTE, TOEFL, and GRE in Hyderabad. Choosing the best one among those is always a challenge. However, it need not be so.  Here are a few things that you could do to decide if an institute is good.

  1. Information over the phone.

Most institutes practice the concept of hard selling. They ask you to come to their office to even get the basic information. They refuse to give this information over the phone. This is definitely not a good sign.

  1. Classes

One of the best things to do before you commit to payment is attending a session. Most good institutes offer the candidates a chance to attend a session. If an institute is asking you to pay for attending a session, it is a trap. Avoid such institutes.

  1. Material

There are very few institutes that bother with giving good material for IELTS or GRE. They usually copy easily available books and pass it off as material. They do not offer workbooks or other material. Ask for the material and workbooks if any.

  1. Reviews

It is common for institutes to have fake reviews. Do not always depend on reviews. Institutes that have too many reviews could be getting fake reviews. Be careful. Always look at the offices, the helpfulness of the staff before blindly trusting reviews.

Which are some of the institutes you could consider?

There are very few institutes that offer free classes in Hyderabad. Look for them, here is a small list

Princeton Review

First Academy

Manhattan Review

Note: The policies of the institutes might have changed. Please check with the institutes about the timings and other details of the demo sessions.

IELTS Speaking – Section 3

by admin

A lot of test takers wonder what section 3 is all about. It is in fact an opportunity for the examiner to fine-tune your score. Understanding how it is done will help you answer the questions better.

Look at these two questions for instance:

How do the relationships in your life affect you?

and compare it with this question

How do the relationships in your life affect the decisions you make?

Both these questions require markedly different answers.  Many candidates often use keywords to give answers to questions. This strategy will only prove to be counterproductive in the third section of the IELTS speaking test.

Be careful and good luck!

How To Get a 7 in IELTS

by admin

Choose a realistic and achievable goal. If the goal is to reach a certain level of English proficiency, success can only be achieved with much practice. It is important to know what score you need in each of the modules before you set yourself a goal. Sometimes, you might need personal training to help to achieve a required score.

Follow a regular study plan. Set aside time each day to practise.  Do not concentrate only on your weakest areas. Be regular in your practice, and give yourself a rest between tasks. Take at least one day out of your week to rest and forget the test completely. Always carry English texts with you, so you can read when you have spare time. Do not worry about understanding every word. If you feel the need for training, look for the best places for IELTS coaching.

Answer More. In the IELTS test there are no negative marks. So if you do not finish the tests try and mark all the answers. Leaving a question unanswered will mean letting an opportunity to score pass.  Candidates whose English is near perfect can expect to score 9, but even native English-speaking people would be unlikely to complete every answer perfectly. read more…

IELTS Speaking Sample Test – Part 1

by admin

Here is a sample speaking test response. The response has been prepared keeping in mind the requirements of the IELTS test. In the actual IELTS test, avoid giving prepared responses as these will lead to you being given a no score.

In the first part of the IELTS test, you will be asked questions on familiar topics including areas like home, family, studies and interests. Ability to communicate information on everyday topics and common experiences is tested in this part.

Part 1

1) What sorts of things do you do to keep healthy?

In order to keep myself healthy, I go for regular morning walks and have a well-balanced diet. My diet includes vegetables and fruits, which boost the immune system. I also drink lots of water to keep the body hydrated.

 2) What other sorts of things are popular in your country to keep healthy?

Well, walking is the most common form of exercise in my country. It’s cheap and convenient. Some youngsters go to the gymnasium or play sports. Traditional methods like yoga and meditation are pretty popular in my country.

 3) What sorts of exercise do you not like doing?

I dislike exercises like aerobics, running, climbing stairs and other activities that require a lot of stamina as they are tiring and I get exhausted very quickly. I also dislike stretching exercises, as I had experienced a severe sprain in my arms the last time I went through a stretching exercise schedule.

 4) How can we get young people to do more exercise?

It is important for young people to exercise regularly and to maintain a healthy lifestyle. This can be achieved if they are inspired by elders at home. The school curriculum should have a subject related to Sports or Yoga, which would encourage students to practice a form of exercise regularly. Assigning academic credits to physical exercise and fitness might also make students devote time for working out.
