by admin on April 25th, 2014

Here is a sample speaking test response. The response has been prepared keeping in mind the requirements of the IELTS test. In the actual IELTS test, avoid giving prepared responses as these will lead to you being given a no score.

In the first part of the IELTS test, you will be asked questions on familiar topics including areas like home, family, studies and interests. Ability to communicate information on everyday topics and common experiences is tested in this part.

Part 1

1) What sorts of things do you do to keep healthy?

In order to keep myself healthy, I go for regular morning walks and have a well-balanced diet. My diet includes vegetables and fruits, which boost the immune system. I also drink lots of water to keep the body hydrated.

 2) What other sorts of things are popular in your country to keep healthy?

Well, walking is the most common form of exercise in my country. It’s cheap and convenient. Some youngsters go to the gymnasium or play sports. Traditional methods like yoga and meditation are pretty popular in my country.

 3) What sorts of exercise do you not like doing?

I dislike exercises like aerobics, running, climbing stairs and other activities that require a lot of stamina as they are tiring and I get exhausted very quickly. I also dislike stretching exercises, as I had experienced a severe sprain in my arms the last time I went through a stretching exercise schedule.

 4) How can we get young people to do more exercise?

It is important for young people to exercise regularly and to maintain a healthy lifestyle. This can be achieved if they are inspired by elders at home. The school curriculum should have a subject related to Sports or Yoga, which would encourage students to practice a form of exercise regularly. Assigning academic credits to physical exercise and fitness might also make students devote time for working out.
